LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Alexander Fox (Montreal West, Que.), a slotback and kick returner for the Bishop's Gaiters football team, has been named a Second Team All-Canadian by Canadian Interuniversity Sport. The CIS office made the announcement tonight, as part of the lead up to Friday night's Vanier Cup in Vancouver. This is the first career All-Canadian nod for the five-foot-eight, 186-pound sophomore.
Fox, 22, led the Quebec conference in 2011 with 1,269 all-purpose yards. He finished second in the circuit with 689 receiving yards, and was also second in touchdowns with six. The former Édouard-Montpetit Lynx had a pair of 100-yard receiving games, and also went over 250 all-purpose yards twice this year. He was named the league's Special Teams Player of the Week after posting 266 all-purpose yards on Oct. 22 against McGill.
This is the second straight year, the fourth in the past five, that a Gaiter has been named a football All-Canadian. Fox is the first Gaiter slot back to be named an All-Canadian since Gilles Colon was named to the First Team in 2003.
The Gaiters concluded their 2011 season with a 3-6 record.
