GAME 1: DYNAMO 73, TORONTO 71

The Montreal Dynamo held off a late Toronto charge to take the first game of the tournament, 73-71. The Dynamo led 71-62 with three minutes to play, but U of T went on a 9-2 run to pull to within two points with 41 seconds to play. The Blues had pair of chances to win or tie the game, but a three-pointer by Joanna Medri and a shot underneath by Jill Tratton both went begging.

Marie-Michelle Genois, the former Laval Rouge et Or star, led the Dynamo with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Karine Bibeau scored 14 and Audrey Latendresse added 13.

The Blues were led by Stratton's game-high 19 points, while Sherri Pierce added 13 and Alicia Van Kampen came off the bench to score ten.

The Dynamo shot 54% (30-for-56) from the field, while holding Toronto to only 40% (30-for-75). The Dynamo, who led 43-36 at halftime, outrebounded U of T 39-35, but committed 33 turnovers, to the Blues' 24.

Former Gaiter standout Anouk Boulanger, playing her first game in Mitchell Gym since graduating in 2007, played 33 minutes, recording two points and a team-high five assists.

GAME 2: QUEEN'S 74, BISHOP'S 64
Brittany Moore's 24 points led the Queen's Gaels to a 74-64 win over the host Bishop's Gaiters in Game 2 of the tournament. Moore went 6-for-12 from the field and hit all 11 of her free throws, as the Gaels recovered from a slow start to pick up their second win of the preseason.

The Gaiters got off to a quick start, and took a 12-4 lead early in the first, led by five points from veteran point guard Jessy Roy. However, the momentum did not last, as the Gaels went on a 10-3 run to end the quarter, cutting the margin to 15-14. The Gaels led 32-29 at halftime, and took the lead for good midway through the third quarter at 40-38.

In addition to Moore's 24, Paige Robinson had 19 points and four rebounds, while Liz Boag had 14 points for Queen's. Boag and Meaghan MacDougall each grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

For Bishop's, Roy led the offence with 14 points and a game-high six assists, while sophomore Gabrielle Chamberland added ten points and Annick Stephanny Charles had nine.

The Gaels outrebounded Bishop's 55-34. The game was physical, with the teams combining for 52 fouls (28 by Bishop's, 24 for Queen's) and 74 free throw attempts (46 by Queen's, 28 by Bishop's), and three players fouling out.

Bishop's forced 30 Queen's turnovers, while committing only 18 of their own.
