ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

 

The Bishop's Gaiters' Athlete of the Week is Jessy Roy from the Women's Basketball team. Roy, a fifth-year point guard from Val d'Or, led the Gaiters in their game at McGill on Thursday night, with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals in 30 minutes.

 

HONOUR ROLL:

  • Tim Hunter, Men's Basketball – Gaiters' leading scorer on Thursday with 19 points and four steals
  • Gabrielle Chamberland, Women's Basketball – Gaiters' top scorer on Thursday with 16 points
  • Mike Andrews, Men's Basketball – Scored 16 points and had team-high eight rebounds on Thursday.

Gaiters suffer heartbreaking loss to McGill

 

THURSDAY - McGill 70, Gaiters 67

A jumper by Nicolas Langley with 1:57 to go proved to be decisive as the McGill Redmen edged the Bishop's Gaiters, 70-67, on Thursday night in Montreal. Langley's bucket, two of his team-high 18 points, put McGill up 68-67, the ninth and final lead change of a frenetic, back-and-forth, final quarter.

UP NEXT: The Gaiters return to action on Friday as they visit the UQAM Citadins. The Gaiters' first home game of 2012 is set for Saturday, January 21 at 4 p.m. against the Laval Rouge et Or.

Gaiters fall just short at McGill

THURSDAY – Martlets 65, Gaiters 61
A balanced attack led the McGill Martlets to a come-from-behind victory, 65-61, over the Bishop's Gaiters in on Thursday night in Montreal. McGill had four players in double figures as they rebounded from a 31-23 halftime deficit.

UP NEXT: The Gaiters return to action on Friday, January 20, as they visit the UQAM Citadins in Montreal. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. The Gaiters return home on Saturday, January 21 as they host Laval. Tipoff at the Mitchell Gym is set for 4 p.m.

Bears off to PEI for first action of New Year

 

 

The Polar Bars return to league play this weekend as they head to Holland College in PEI for their second tournament of the Maritime Intercollegiate Women's Hockey Challenge. The Polar Bears are heading east with a 2-1-1 record from the first league tournament at Université Sainte-Anne in November.
