LENNOXVILLE, Que. - The Bishop’s Gaiters football team will host an intra-squad scrimmage tomorrow, August 21, as they continue their preseason preparations. The scrimmage is set to start at 11:45 a.m. at Coulter Field and run for approximately 60 minutes.
The game will cap the first week of the Gaiters’ 2010 training camp, which saw over 90 student-athletes descend on the Lennoxville campus this week to begin preparations for the 2010 Quebec University Football League season. That number includes 57 returning players (19 starters) from last year’s squad which posted a 4-4 regular season record and finished third in the QUFL.
“I feel very good about our athletes and our program right now. We have some excellent returning players, and I think we have a good group of young players as well. A lot of these guys can step in and play right away.,” says Leroy Blugh, the Gaiters’ Head Coach.
After Saturday's scrimmage, the Gaiters will return to the rigors of training camp, with practices running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. next Monday to Friday. The Gaiters’ first regular-season game is set for Saturday, September 4 at 7 p.m., as they host the Concordia Stingers.
