LENNOXVILLE, Que. – An 8-0 shutout by Men's Rugby highlighted a trio of Bishop's Gaiters contests at Coulter Field on Friday night. The Gaiters, in a battle for second place, shut out the Concordia Stingers in a tight, defensive affair. Earlier in the evening, Women's Soccer fought to a 1-1 draw against the Stingers, while Women's Rugby lost to No. 3-ranked Laval.

Five tries by Geneviève Thibault led the No. 3-ranked Laval Rouge et Or to a 107-0 whitewash of the Bishop's Gaiters in CIS university rugby action at Coulter Field. Thibault scored three first-half tries, as the visitors took a 69-0 halftime lead.
Karen Paquin added four tries for the league leaders; while Onienté K.Laflamme, Amélie Tremblay-Martin and Dominique Laliberté- Martineau each scored a pair and Élie Papineau and Charlotte Vallières-Villeneuve added one each. Conversions by Claudiane Renaud (5), Vallières-Villeneuve (3), Myriam Roger (2) and Laliberté-Martineau (1) rounded out the scoring.
The Gaiters' best chance to break the goose egg came in the 50th minute, when they put together a multiple-phase possession, and advanced the ball to within five yards of the Laval goal. The Gaiters also missed a pair of long attempts at penalty goals.
The loss drops the Gaiters to 0-4 on the season. They return to action on Thursday night, October 6, as they visit the Sherbrooke Vert & Or. Kickoff at the U de S turf field is now set for 7 p.m. (not 9 p.m., as previously announced).
