Golf finishes eighth at provincial championship

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters golf team finished in eighth place after the provincial championship tournament, which was held Monday and Tuesday at Boischatel, Que. The Gaiters posted rounds of 322 and 326 over the tournament's two days.

Team standings were calculated as the aggregate of all eight rounds played by the Gaiters this year, and Bishop's finished with 2,596 strokes, eight strokes behind ETS and nine shots behind sixth-place UQAC. Laval won the team championship with an eight-round aggregate of 2,308 – 73 shots ahead of second-place Montreal.

Olivier Audette-Génier was the Gaiters' leading individual, shooting 158 (78-80) over the two days. Individual scores were calculated by taking the best four rounds from the preliminary tournaments and adding them to the scores from the championship tournament. Audette-Génier finished tied for 19th with a six-round aggregate of 461. Ugo Coussaud of Laval won the championship, with a six-round score of 419.

Two other Gaiters cracked the top 30, as Dane Fitzpatrick finished tied for 22nd with a six-round aggregate of 465, while James Laing was 29th, with a total score of 480. Scott Latter (512, 51st place) and Jason Hines Duncliffe (525, 55th place) rounded out the Bishop's contingent.
