LENNOXVILLE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters mounted a late charge, but it was not enough to overhaul No. 8 Concordia as they fell, 75-67, in Quebec university men's basketball league play at the Mitchell Gym, Friday night. The Gaiters trailed by as many as 21 points in the first half, but cut the gap to as few as three late in the game before Concordia pulled away in the final minute.

Bishop's (6-16, 6-12 CIS, 1-8 Quebec) was led by Mukiya Post's (Victoria, B.C.) 18 points, while Tim Hunter (Baie d'Urfé, Que.) added 17 points and eight rebounds. Sean Monplaisir (Toronto, Ont.) was the only other Gaiter in double figures, with 14 points and eight rebounds. Mike Andrews (Oakville, Ont.) led the Gaiters on the boards with nine rebounds. The Gaiters outrebounded Concordia 44-40.

Concordia (16-7, 15-4 CIS, 8-0 Quebec) was led by Decee Krah's 21 points, while Jerome Blake had a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Evens Laroche (15 points) and Kyle Desmarais (ten points) were the other Stingers in double figures.

The Gaiters endured another difficult start, as they trailed 25-11 after the first quarter, and 42-22 at halftime. Concordia shot 53% from the field in the first 20 minutes, while the Gaiters hit only 20% of their shots.

Bishop's turned the game around in the second half, using a 15-4 run late in the third quarter to cut the Stinger lead to 58-49 after 30 minutes. The comeback continued in the fourth, with the Gaiters pulling back to within three points with 5:40 left. The Gaiters again made it a one-possession game at 66-63 with three minutes to go, but – unlike last week - they were unable to pull even. A Krah three-pointer with 2:02 left proved to be the dagger, as he put Concordia back up by six points at 69-63.

For the game, the Gaiters shot 33% from the field (47% in the second half), while Concordia shot 43%. Concordia was 9-for-23 from three-point range, while the Gaiters were 1-for-21.

The Gaiters return to action on Friday, February 3, as they host the McGill Redmen. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
