ATHLETES OF THE WEEK:

The Bishop’s Gaiters Male Athlete of the Week is Tim Hunter of the Men's Basketball team. The third-year forward from Baie d'Urfé, Que. led the Gaiters on Friday night with 16 points in 35 minutes as the Gaiters fell 74-56 to UQAM.

The Bishop’s Gaiters Female Athlete of the Week is Jessy Roy of the Women's Basketball team. The native of Val d'Or, Que. picked up her first double-double of the season, as she scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed ten rebounds against the UQAM Citadins.

HONOUR ROLL:

  • Mike Andrews, Men’s Basketball— Had a strong game Friday scoring 11 and grabbing eight rebounds.
  • Onnex Blackwood, Men's Basketball – Scored 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting on Friday night.
  • Katy Germain, Women’s Basketball-- Scored 17 points Friday night against UQAM.
  • Gabrielle Côté-Caouette, Women's Basketball – Scored in double digits for the fourth straight game, with 14 points against UQAM

WOMEN’S INDOOR SOCCER (0-0)

Indoor Soccer kicks off on Sunday at UQTR

The 2011 Women's Indoor Soccer season kicks off on Sunday afternoon, as they Gaiters visit the UQTR Patriotes in Trois-Rivières. The three-time defending QUISL quarterfinalists will be looking to improve on last season's 0-6-1 record. UQTR did not fare much better last season, as they went 1-6-0. The Gaiters have only traveled to UQTR once in indoor soccer play, picking up a 2-2 draw on January 23, 2009. Kickoff at the Centre Alphonse-Desjardins is set for 4 p.m.
