ATHLETES OF THE WEEK:
The Bishop’s Gaiters Female Athlete of the Week is Katie Wallace of the Women’s Soccer team. Wallace, a second-year forward from Stanstead Que., was named the Gaiters MVP Friday night as she showed great hustle and supplied the offensive pressure against the Montréal Carabins.

  • Molly Bucholtz, Women's Soccer – Made 12 saves on Friday against Montreal.

 

MEN’S BASKETBALL (1-25, 1-22 CIS, 0-9 QUBL)
Gaiters start home stretch with pair of home games

The Gaiters were off last week, their only bye week of the winter.

UP NEXT: The Gaiters have a pair of home games this week. On Thursday, they host the Concordia Stingers, while on Saturday the UQAM Citadins pay a visit to Lennoxville. Both games are set to tip off at 8 p.m.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (7-12, 7-11 CIS, 2-7 QUBL)
Gaiters preparing for playoff drive

The Gaiters were off last week. They close the regular season with seven games over the next five weeks, starting with a pair at home this week.

UP NEXT: The Gaiters have a pair of home games this week. On Thursday, they host the Concordia Stingers, while on Saturday the UQAM Citadins pay a visit to the Mitchell Gym. Both games are set to tip off at 6 p.m.

WOMEN’S INDOOR SOCCER (0-2-0)
Indoor Soccer drops home opener to Montreal


FRIDAY: Montreal 5, Gaiters 0
Two goals and an assist by Eva Thouvenot led the Montréal Carabins to a 5-0 win over the Gaiters in Quebec University Indoor Soccer League women's play on Friday night in Sherbrooke. The Gaiters were kept off of the score sheet as Sarah Therien grabbed the shutout for the Carabins. The MVP honours went to Claire Robbins for Montreal, as she scored a goal and assist, and Katie Wallace of the Gaiters, as she showed relentless hustle up front. Rounding out the scoring for Montreal was Marylise Montchalin and Emmanuel Belieau who both pocketed a goal and an assist. First year goalie Molly Bucholtz stood strong in the Gaiters net as she made 12 saves on the night.

UP NEXT: The Gaiters continue regular season play Saturday as they travel to Montreal to take on the McGill Martlets at the Complexe Sportif Marie-Victorin. Kick-off will be at 3 p.m.

 

WOMEN’S HOCKEY (5-7)
Polar Bears open 2011 with a win

The Polar Bears were off last week, but return to the ice this week when they take on the Sherbrooke Junior AAs. Faceoff at the W.B. Scott Arena is set for 7:45 on Friday night.
