ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

The Bishop’s Gaiters Athlete of the Week is Noah Harrison of the Men's Rugby team. Harrison, a fourth-year prop from Toronto, was the Gaiters' Man of the Match in their 8-0 win over Sherbrooke on Friday night. Harrison led the Gaiters' attack throughout the game, and his performance was highlighted by charging down a Concordia kick and scoring the Gaiters' only try of the match.
 
HONOUR ROLL:
  • Ryland Smith, Football – Knocked down four passes on Friday at McGill
  • David Malloy, Lacrosse – Led the Gaiters with five points on Sunday vs. Toronto
  • Alison Verville, Women's Soccer – Scored the Gaiter's goal on Friday vs. Concordia
  • Kyle Kelly, Men's Rugby – Third-year prop had several big carries on Friday
  • LeeAnna Coates, Women's Rugby – Veteran No. 8 led Gaiters on Friday evening

Gaiters come from behind to down McGill, Mayor's Cup on tap this week
 
FRIDAY: McGill 18, Gaiters 23
A pair of second-half touchdown passes by Jordan Heather led the Bishop's Gaiters to a come-from-behind victory, 23-18, over the McGill Redmen in CIS football action on Friday night at Molson Stadium in Montreal. The Oromocto, N.B., native connected on scoring passes to his brother, Nathan Heather, and Quincy Van De Cruize as the Gaiters overcame a 15-3 halftime deficit.
 
UP NEXT: The Gaiters are also back in action on Saturday as they visit the Sherbrooke Vert & Or in the annual Mayor's Cup game. Kickoff in Sherbrooke is set for 7 p.m.
 
MEN’S BASKETBALL (0-1, 0-0 CIS, 0-0 Conf.)
Gaiters open non-conference play at Queen's

Men's Basketball begins the non-conference portion of their schedule this week with a single game at Queen's on Friday night. The Gaiters will be looking to avenge last year's 75-68 (OT) defeat in Kingston. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
 
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (0-0)
Gaiters to open schedule at UNB tourney
Women's Basketball tips off this weekend, as the Gaiters travel to Fredericton, N.B., for the Accreon Helen Campbell Tournament. The Gaiters will face the host UNB Varsity Reds on Friday, UPEI on Saturday and the York Lions on Sunday.
 
WOMEN’S SOCCER (0-6-2)
Gaiters suffer two tough road losses, tie at home
 
TUESDAY – Sherbrooke 3, Gaiters 0
A pair of goals by Isabelle Genest led the Sherbrooke Vert & Or to a 3-0 win over the Bishop's Gaiters in CIS soccer action on Tuesday at the Université de Sherbrooke turf field.
 
A 86th-minute penalty kick by Jessica Duff gave the Concordia Stingers a 1-1 tie with the Bishop's Gaiters in CIS university soccer action on Friday at Coulter Field. Both goals in the game came via the spot kick, as Alison Verville had put the Gaiters on the board in the 69th kick with a penalty of her own.

SUNDAY– Montreal 7, Gaiters 0
A balanced attack led the No. 2-ranked Montreal Carabins to a 7-0 shutout of the Bishop's Gaiters in CIS soccer action on Sunday at the CEPSUM stadium in Montreal. Six different players found the net for Montreal, led by a brace from Eva Thouvenot-Hébert.

UP NEXT: The Gaiters are off this week for the Thanksgiving break. Their next game is Thursday, October 13, as they visit the McGill Martlets at Molson Stadium.
 
MEN’S RUGBY (2-1-1, 6 pts)
Gaiters head into Thanksgiving on a high after shutout of Concordia
 
FRIDAY – Gaiters 8, Concordia 0
A three-yard dive by Noah Harrison in the 39th minute led the Bishop's Gaiters to an 8-0 shutout of the Concordia Stingers in Quebec university rugby action on Friday night at Coulter Field. The fourth-year No. 8 picked up the ball after he and David Pavey charged down an attempted Concordia kick from the end zone.

UP NEXT: The Gaiters are off next week, as the league takes its annual Thanksgiving break. The Gaiters return to action on Saturday, October 15 as they visit the McGill Redmen.
 
Gaiters shut out at home, return match at Sherbrooke on tap this week
 
FRIDAY: Laval 107, Gaiters 0
Five tries by Geneviève Thibault led the No. 3-ranked Laval Rouge et Or to a shutout of the Bishop's Gaiters on Friday night at Coulter Field.

GOLF (8th of 12)
Gaiters set for Provincial Championship
 
Golf was off this week, and the provincial championship is set for October 3 and 4 at the Royal Quebec Golf Club in Boischatel.
 
LACROSSE (2-1)

Lacrosse won their only league game of the week, 13-9, over the U of T on Sunday. On Saturday, they dropped a 7-6 decision in exhibition play to the University of Vermont.
 
SATURDAY: Vermont 7, Gaiters 6 (EX)
A Catamount goal with a minute left gave Vermont a come-from behind victory over the Gaiters. Bishop's received goals from Mike Dube, James Malloy, Alex Henderson, Brett Conway and Taber Engelken. The Gaiters used three goalkeepers, with Keegan Durovick, David Bigley andj Maxime Péloquin-Letendre all seeing time in net.
 
SUNDAY: Gaiters 13, Toronto 9
A five-point performance by James Malloy led the Gaiters to a 13-9 win over the University of Toronto. Three of Malloy's goals came in the second half as the Gaiters broke the game open, after going into the break tied 6-6. Toronto got off to a quick start, scoring only 25 seconds into the game, and leading 4-2 after the first 20 minutes. The Gaiters rebounded to tie the game by halftime, and outscored the visitors 7-3 over the final 40 minutes.
 
Eight different players scored for Bishop's, including Malloy's game-high four goals. Andrew MacKay added a hat trick, while Jesse Gattellaro and Alex Dube each picked up a pair and Joe Laleune and Mike Dube added singles. The Gaiters were missing six players to suspensions picked up at the end of the McGill game: Josh Crone, Gareth Gibson, Mark Hall, Greg Harnett, Alex Henderson and Rick Sainthill.
 
Assistant Coach Rob Engelken said, "[This was] A nice win today over a greatly improved opponent. Our offense played well and we had more new names involved in it which is great.  Our goalie played well, but our defense gave too many quality opportunities to a team with some good passers/shooters." 
 
UP NEXT: Lacrosse has one league game this week, on Thursday at McGill. The Gaiters are scheduled to play another pair of "fall ball" U.S. exhibition games, as they visit St. Michael's College (Vt.), a Division II school on Saturday morning, and Division III St. Lawrence University on Sunday.
