Gaiters close out season with narrow loss at Concordia
nullnbsp;
SATURDAY: Concordia 89, Bishop's 85
Six last-minute points by Kyle Desmarais gave the Concordia Stingers an 89-85 victory over the Gaiters on Saturday night in Montreal. The 6-foot-3 guard hit three layups over the last 52 seconds as the Stingers used a game-closing 6-1 run to erase an 84-83 deficit and clinch first place in the QUBL. The game was a wild contest, featuring eight ties and seven lead changes. Sean Monplaisir hit an open jumper to put the Gaiters up 84-83 with 58 seconds left. However, the trio of Desmarais baskets finally dashed the visitors' hope of an upset of the league pennant-winners. Onnex Blackwood led the Gaiters with 18 points, as all five Bishop's starters reach double figures. Tim Hunter picked up 16, including four three-pointers, while Mike Andrews had a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Monplaisir scored 15 and had a game-high eight assists, while Jeremy Leonard-Smith scored 11 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

Cnullocirc;tnulleacute;-Caouettenullrsquo;s 15 not enough in season-ending loss at Concordia
nullnbsp;
SATURDAY: Concordia 52, Bishopnullrsquo;s 46
A 15-point performance by Gabrielle Cnullocirc;tnulleacute;-Caouette was not enough for the Gaiters, as they suffered a 52-46 defeat to Concordia on Saturday. The 46 points was the Gaiters' lowest point total this season, as they struggled to get their offence untracked. Along with Cnullocirc;tnulleacute;-Caouette's 15, the only other Gaiter in double figures was Katy Germain (Val d'Or, Que.), who scored 12 points and made a team-high six assists in her final game in Purple and White. The Gaiters' other graduating senior, Mnulleacute;lanie Ouellet-Godcharles (Gatineau, Que.) was held to five points, but grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

10-man Gaiters shut out by Laval
nullnbsp;
FRIDAY: Laval 3, Bishopnullrsquo;s 0
Kathy Gosselinnullrsquo;s 17th minute goal held up as the winner as the Gaiters fell 3-0 to the Laval Rouge et Or on Friday night in Fleurimont. The Gaiters, playing shorthanded due to the start of Reading Week, opted for a Catenaccio tactic that served to blunt the powerful Laval attack. The Gaiters were reduced to ten men at the half-hour mark, when newcomer Caitlin Porter left with an injury, and were two short in the 85th minute, as Camille Rajotte netted an insurance marker. Maroua Chebbinullrsquo;s 87th-minute goal provided the final margin of victory. Molly Bucholtz made 16 saves in net for the Gaiters to take home MVP honours, while Audrey Lnulleacute;tourneau picked up the shutout for Laval. Gabrielle Verret was the game MVP for Laval, as she picked up an assist.
