Women's Soccer closes season with shutout at Laval

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – A hat trick by Mélissande Guy led the Laval Rouge et Or to an 8-0 shutout of the Bishops' Gaiters in CIS women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon in Quebec City. Guy finished with five points, as she picked up a pair of assists. She scored her hat trick early in the first half, with goals in the 9th, 12th and 14th minutes.

Marwa Chebbi and Caroline Marcotte each scored a pair for the Rouge et Or, who led 7-0 at halftime. The other Laval goal came from Camille Rajotte.

Krista Wilson, making her first career start for the Gaiters, made six saves. She and Alison Verville were booked in the contest. Taylor Wade earned MVP honours for the Gaiters.

Marie-Ève Desnoyers made two saves to pick up the shutout for the hosts, while Chebbi earned MVP honours.

Laval (5-5-4) advances to play top-seeded Montreal in the first round of the league playoffs. The Gaiters finish the season at 0-12-2, their first winless season since 1994.
