SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's University Department of Athletics and Recreation is pleased to announce that Jamil Abiad of the men's basketball team has been named the Provigo Robert Lafond Athlete of the Week.
 
Abiad, from Orleans, Ont. helped the Gaiters (3-0) to a 71-58 win over Laval (1-2) Thursday night in Quebec City.  The 5-11 guard scored 12 points and had two rebounds to keep Bishop's in the top spot in the RSEQ. 
 
"Jamil was a key factor coming off the bench for us," said head coach Rod Gilpin.  "He played big minutes and shot the ball well like he regularly does."
 
The fifth year Sports Studies student will lead the Gaiters into their last game prior to the holiday break against UQAM (0-2) in Montreal on Saturday night at 8 p.m.
