ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
The Bishop’s Gaiters Athlete of the Week is Adam Moore of the Men's Rugby team. Moore, a second-year flanker from Dartmouth, N.S., was the Gaiters' Man of the Match in their 12-5 win over Sherbrooke on Friday night. Moore led the Gaiters with his strong defensive presence throughout the match. His hard work at breakdowns helped the Gaiters keep possession, steal the ball or slow down the Vert & Or offence. He set up the Gaiters' first try of the match by making a quick pass to Noah Harrison off a lineout.
 
HONOUR ROLL:
  • Keegan Durovick, Lacrosse – Made 19 saves in Gaiters' 12-11 loss to McGill on Thursday
  • Frédérique Cloutier, Women's Soccer – Scored the Gaiters' opening goal in Friday's tie with UQTR.
  • Kyle Kelly, Men's Rugby – Third-year prop carried the ball for over 40 yards on Friday
  • O'Shane Daley, Football – Led Gaiters' defence with 6.5 tackles, an interception and a knockdown
  • Lisa Boateng, Women's Rugby – Led Gaiters' defence on Friday against Sherbrooke
  • Josh Crone, Lacrosse – Led Gaiters with five goals on Thursday night
  • Patricia Murray, Women's Soccer – Rookie midfielder set up Gaiters' first goal on Friday
  • Andrew Jamieson, Men's Rugby – Second-year centre had a strong overall performance
  • Shane McDonald, Football – Scored first career touchdown on Saturday.
  • Ryan Ozeroff, Men's Rugby – Scored the winning try for the Gaiters on Friday
  • Ryland Smith, Football – Made his third interception of the year on Saturday, tying him for the league lead.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK:

The Bishop’s Gaiters Athlete of the Week is Jordan Heather of the Football team. Heather, a third-year quarterback from Oromocto, N.B., threw for a career-high 459 yards as he led the Gaiters to a 36-23 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday afternoon. Heather's total was a regular-season single-game record for the Gaiters, and one yard short of the all-time school record (460, set by Silvio Martel in a 1991 OQIFC semi-final). The third-year history major, playing in his first CIS game in his home province, completed 26 of 41 passes, including three touchdowns and one interception. This was Heather's second consecutive 300-yard game, in only his third career regular-season start.

 

HONOUR ROLL:

  • Mike Dube, Lacrosse – Led Gaiter offence with 7 points (4G, 3A) in 18-7 win over Trent
  • Noah Harrison, Men's Rugby – Gaiter captain had his strongest game yet in purple, leading Bishop's from the No. 8 position
  • Alexander Fox, Football – Led Gaiters with 9 catches for 108 yards on Saturday at Mount A.
  • LeeAnna Coates, Women's Rugby – Led the Gaiters attack on Friday night
  • Alison Verville, Women's Soccer – Gaiters team MVP on Friday against Laval
  • Andrew Jamieson, Men's Rugby – Second-year centre scored another brilliant try on Friday night at Concordia
  • David Haddrall, Football – Made six catches for 105 yards on Saturday.
  • Jesse Gattelaro, Lacrosse – Sparked BU offence with six points (4G, 2A) on Sunday vs. Trent
  • Steven Turner, Football – First 100-yard game since his return, with 5 catches for 125 yds.
  • Ross Wills, Lacrosse – Outstanding defensive effort in stifling potent Trent offense
  • Marie-Pierre Harvey, Women's Soccer – Rookie goalie made three saves in her first career start on Friday
  • Tyler Jutras, Football – Led Gaiters defence with six tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery
  • Andrew Mackay, Lacrosse – Midfielder won over 90% of his draws on Sunday vs. Trent
  • Lois Boateng, Women's Rugby – Provided strength in the back in Gaiters' loss to Concordia

The Bishop’s Gaiters Athlete of the Week is Jordan Heather of the Football team. Heather, a third-year quarterback from Oromocto, N.B., threw for a career-high 327 yards in the Gaiters' 25-18 loss to Concordia on Saturday. Heather went 25-for-45 from the field and also added a pair of touchdowns.

  • Allix Laffoley-Cartier, Women's Rugby – Veteran scrum half scored five minutes into Friday's game, putting Bishop's up 5-0
  • Olivier Audette-Genier, Golf – Was Gaiters' low scorer at Owl's Head tournament
  • Molly Bucholtz, Women's Soccer – Made 8 saves on Friday vs. McGill
  • Alexander Fox, Football – Made six catches for 128 yards, and also had 158 return yards.
  • LeeAnna Coates, Women's Rugby – No. 8 was instrumental in every Gaiters advance on Friday
  • Becky Yates, Women’s Soccer – Gaiters’ MVP on Friday night with strong defensive performance
  • Ryland Smith, Football – Made first career interception on Saturday
  • Adam Moore, Men's Rugby – Flanker made several big tackles against McGill
  • Lois Boateng, Women's Rugby – Made several try-saving tackles.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK:

The Bishop’s Gaiters Athlete of the Week is Steven Turner of the Football team. Turner, a fifth-year wide receiver from Brampton, Ont., led the Gaiters with 150 all-purpose yards, including six catches for 99 yards. His 84-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter led the Gaiters' charge as they mounted a second-quarter comeback against the Sherbrooke Vert & Or.

HONOUR ROLL:

  • James Laing, Golf – Led Gaiters at Bishop's Open with score of 153 (+7).
  • David Haddrall, Football – Made 4 catches for 82 yards, and averaged 64.5 yards on two kickoffs
  • Olivier Audette-Genier – Shot 155 (+9) for the Gaiters at the Bishop's Open
  • Jonathan Watts, Football – Had two knockdowns and a sack in his Gaiters debut
  • Dane Fitzpatrick - Shot 155 (+9) for the Gaiters at the Bishop's Open

LENNOXVILLE, Que. - Jesse Andrews (Pickering, Ont.), Mike Dube (Brockville, Ont.) and Jessy Roy (Val d'Or, Que.) were named the Bishop's University Athletes of the Year at the annual awards gala held tonight in Sherbrooke. Also winning major awards were Taylor Wade (Wolfville, N.S.) and Andrew Jamieson (Beaconsfield, Que.), who were named Freshmen of the Year, while Katie Allen (Vankleek Hill, Ont.) and Zak Buis (North Delta, B.C.) were named the winners of the Academic Student-Athlete of the Year Award. Karl Hunting, the former coach of the Polar Bears women's hockey team, was awarded the prestigious Ray Almond Award for his contributions to Bishop's Athletics. At the gala, over 40 awards were presented across all nine Bishop's athletic programs.

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – The Bishop’s Gaiters golf team has finished in sixth place at the QSSF Golf Championship, which concluded on Wednesday afternoon at Laval-sur-le-Lac, Que. This is the best performance for the Gaiters since a fourth-place finish in 2006.
