LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Audi Glass '09, a member of the Bishop's Gaiters lacrosse team from 2005-08, has been signed by the Ohio Machine of Major League Lacrosse. The Machine are entering their first season in the eight-team professional field lacrosse league. Glass was signed to the club's 40-man training camp roster following the league's annual collegiate draft last week.

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Josh Crone (Cambridge, Ont.) and Mike Dube (Brockville, Ont.) of the Bishop's Gaiters have been named major award winners by the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association. Crone was named the league's Most Valuable Player and Most Outstanding Attackman, while Dube was honoured as the league's Most Outstanding Graduating Player.

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Four members of the Baggataway Cup Champion Bishop's Gaiters have been named to the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association's East Division all-star team, with the Gaiters also earning one honourable mention.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

Josh Crone of the Lacrosse team is this week's Bishop's University Athlete of the Week. Crone was named the Baggataway Cup tournament MVP, as he led the Gaiters to their first-ever CUFLA Championship. Crone led the Gaiters with 13 points (8 G, 5 A) over three games last weekend, including five goals in Saturday's semi-final win over Guelph, and six points (2 G, 4A) in Sunday's 11-6 win over Brock.

HONOUR ROLL:

  • Mike Dube, Men's Lacrosse – Scored eight goals, including the game-winners on Saturday and Sunday
  • Keegan Durovick, Men's Lacrosse – Made 29 saves over three games at Baggataway Cup
  • Onnex Blackwood, Men's Basketball – Recorded a double-double (11 pts 10 reb) on Sunday
  • Greg Harnett, Men's Lacrosse – Defender contributed at both ends, neutralizing the opponents' attack and scoring a goal of his own on Sunday.
  • Jessy Roy, Women's Basketball – Led Gaiters with 12 points on Sunday afternoon.
  • Andrew MacKay, Men's Lacrosse – Won most of his faceoffs, and scored a pair of goals.
  • Jeremy Leonard-Smith, Men's Basketball – Led Gaiters with 14 points on Sunday at Bentley.Dan Shupe, Men's Lacrosse – Came off the bench to shore up Gaiters' defence and long-stick midfield positions.
  • Alex Dube, Men's Lacrosse – Keyed Gaiters' loose-ball play throughout the weekend.
  • Catherine Rondeau, Women's Basketball – Rookies scored nine points on Sunday.

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – A hat trick by Mike Dube (Brockville, Ont.) and a six-point afternoon by Josh Crone (Cambridge, Ont.) led the Bishop's Gaiters to the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association championship, as the defeated the Brock Badgers, 11-6, in the league final on Sunday afternoon in London, Ont. The win gives the Gaiters their first Baggataway Cup in the team's 11-year history, and marks the first time that the trophy has been won by a team from Quebec.More...

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

Jordan Heather of the Football team is this week's Bishop's University Athlete of the Week. On Saturday, Heather passed for 365 yards, setting a new team single-season record for passing yards, and he also set a new school single-game record with 49 pass attempts. He also set a new league mark with 345 pass attempts in 2011. Heather finished atop the league standings in yards, attempts, completions and touchdowns.

HONOUR ROLL:

  • Jesse Gattellaro, Men's Lacrosse – Scored a hat trick against Trent
  • Gabrielle Chamberland, Women's Basketball – Led Gaiters with 23 points on Saturday at McMaster
  • Noah Harrison, Men's Rugby – Scored a try on Friday night
  • Josh Crone, Men's Lacrosse – Led Gaiters with five points (1G, 4A)
  • Josh Quirion, Men's Rugby – Scored a try on Friday night
  • David Haddrall, Football – Returned from injury to make 8 catches for 105 yards
  • Charlie Campbell, Men's Rugby – Strong kicking game on Friday
  • Tyler Jutras, Football – Led Gaiter defence with a sack, forced fumble and an interception
  • Clare Murphy, Women's Basketball – Scored 16 points and 14 points in last two games last weekend.
  • Taylor Wade, Women's Soccer – Gaiters' player of the game both times last weekend

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

The Bishop’s Gaiters Athlete of the Week is Alexander Fox of the football team. Fox, a native of Montreal West, Que., led the Gaiters with 266 all-purpose yards last week – the fifth-highest total in team history – and was named the league Special Teams Player of the Week after last week's 21-18 win over the McGill Redmen. He caught seven passes for 84 yards, had 48 yards in kickoff returns and 134 yards combined on punt and missed field goal returns.

  • Onnex Blackwood, Men's Basketball – Named to Laurentian Invitational all-tournament team
  • Shantino Wilson, Football – Scored first career touchdown to complete Gaiter comeback on Saturday
  • Mike Dube, Men's Lacrosse – Scored 11 points over weekend to clinch CUFLA scoring title
  • Max Grouette, Men's Rugby – Gaiters' Man of the Match on Sunday against Sherbrooke
  • Jordan Heather, Football – Posted his fourth 300-yard game of the season on Saturday
  • Noah Harrison, Men's Rugby – Scored a pair of tries in 20-12 win over Sherbrooke
  • Josh Crone, Men's Lacrosse – 14-point weekend to finish second in CUFLA scoring race
  • Tim Hunter, Men's Basketball – Double-double on Sunday led Gaiters over Cape Breton
  • Dale Adamson, Women's Soccer – Gaiters' player of the game on Sunday
  • Dan West, Football – Made two tackles for loss on Saturday, including a sack
  • Charlie Campbell, Men's Rugby – Fullback had strong kicking performance on Sunday night
  • Gareth Gibson, Men's Lacrosse – Four goals, two assists last weekend, along with many key ground balls
  • Mike Andrews, Men's Basketball – Led Gaiters with 16 points on Saturday vs. Western
  • Quincy Van De Cruize, Football – Made career-long 76-yard catch to start Gaiter comeback
  • Greg Harnett, Men's Lacrosse – Led Gaiter defence, with many ground balls and key clears.
  • Becky Yates, Women's Soccer – Made seven saves on Friday against Sherbrooke

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
The Bishop’s Gaiters Athlete of the Week is Mike Dube of the men's lacrosse team. Dube, a native of Brockville, led the Gaiters with four goals in their 11-10 (OT) win over the McGill Redmen on Thursday night. The win pulled the Gaiters to within three games of the Redmen, with Bishop's having three games in hand.

  • Gabrielle Chamberland, Women's Basketball - Was named tournament MVP over the weekend, after scoring 60 points over three games
  • Josh Crone, Lacrosse – Helped lead Gaiter offense last weekend
  • Luca Urbani, Football – Scored first career touchdown on Saturday
·         Onnex Blackwood, Men's Basketball – Led Gaiters on Friday with 18 points, 16 in the second half
  • Jessy Roy, Women's Basketball – Player of the Game on Friday after a team-high 15 points
  • Patrik Kabongo, Men's Basketball – Came off bench to spark Gaiters' comeback
  • Keegan Durovick, Lacrosse – Very strong performance in goal against McGill
  • Riley Shkimba, Women's Basketball – Named Gaiters' player of the game on Sunday

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Mike Dube (Brockville, Ont.) scored four goals and James Malloy (Uxbridge, Ont.), tallied the game-winner with 3:15 remaining in overtime as Bishop’s rallied from a four-goal deficit at halftime to upset division-leading McGill, 11-10, in Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association action at Molson Stadium in Montreal, Thursday.
