LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Samantha Juraschka, a fourth-year midfielder with the Bishop’s Gaiters women's soccer team, has been named as one of three finalists for the Gildan Prize for Leadership, as announced by the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence today. The Prize is awarded to a student-athlete, across all university sports throughout Quebec, who has distinguished him or herself through community service and displayed a leadership role within their team. Each finalist will receive a bursary of $1,750, with the winner receiving an additional $250.

The league office in Montreal made the announcement earlier today. This is the second straight season that Juraschka has been nominated for the national prize.

Jordan Heather of the Football team is this week's Bishop's University Athlete of the Week. On Saturday, Heather passed for 365 yards, setting a new team single-season record for passing yards, and he also set a new school single-game record with 49 pass attempts. He also set a new league mark with 345 pass attempts in 2011. Heather finished atop the league standings in yards, attempts, completions and touchdowns.

- Tyler Jutras, Football – Led Gaiter defence with a sack, forced fumble and an interception
- Clare Murphy, Women's Basketball – Scored 16 points and 14 points in last two games last weekend.
- Taylor Wade, Women's Soccer – Gaiters' player of the game both times last weekend

More...LENNOXVILLE, Que. – A hat trick by Mélissande Guy led the Laval Rouge et Or to an 8-0 shutout of the Bishops' Gaiters in CIS women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon in Quebec City. Guy finished with five points, as she picked up a pair of assists. She scored her hat trick early in the first half, with goals in the 9th, 12th and 14th minutes.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: The Bishop’s Gaiters Athlete of the Week is Alexander Fox of the football team. Fox, a native of Montreal West, Que., led the Gaiters with 266 all-purpose yards last week – the fifth-highest total in team history – and was named the league Special Teams Player of the Week after last week's 21-18 win over the McGill Redmen. He caught seven passes for 84 yards, had 48 yards in kickoff returns and 134 yards combined on punt and missed field goal returns.

More...LENNOXVILLE, Que. – A pair of goals by Josée Bélanger led the No. 8-ranked Sherbrooke Vert & Or to a 2-0 victory over the Bishop's Gaiters in CIS women's soccer action tonight at Coulter Field. Bélanger found the net in the 11th and 26th minutes, as the Vert & Or (8-1-2) took a quick 2-0 lead.
More...LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Four goals by Alexandra Morin-Boucher led the McGill Martlets to a 9-0 shutout of the Bishop's Gaiters in CIS soccer action on Thursday night in Montreal. Morin-Boucher scored the first two goals and added another pair in the late stages.
